Striding Edge

Yet another heavenly day in the Lakes. When high pressure combines with snow, I just have to head to the hills and ignore normal life. It's too precious to waste. Judging by the number of people walking, tobogganing and even skiing on Helvellyn today, it seems they felt the same as me. Here is Striding Edge, the iconic arete leading to Helvellyn's summit. Walkers were moving along its crest very carefully as they navigated patches of snow and ice.

The long snowy ridge on the horizon is High Street and below it, immediately behind Striding Edge, the northern end of St. Sunday Crag.
