Coniston Old Man
looking down on Low Water and across towards Wetherlam
A stunning day ... quite a bit of ice on the ascent which came as a surprise and led to a very convivial summit exchange with folk arriving from different routes and lots of conversations on the top about the best ways down. I didn't think I was going to make the summit with energy and iron levels still depleted and thought better of going on to Dow Crag heading down instead by Goat's Water which was peaceful and spectacular with hazy views to the sea.
I meant to add that this is my first ever ascent of Coniston...after all these years... I've been on all the fells around it but never to the summit itself. I was thinking too about intention, particularly in the Buddhist sense. Today the intention beacame action.
