Horses for Courses
After a lovely meal last night, and a soporific read in bed, I had hoped for a deep and meaningful sleep, but the pesky pillows in the giant sized bed proved a barrier to that. I like a soft feather pillow not two fat foam ones, neither of which yielded to my head.
Other than that, our stay was very enjoyable and after a photo shoot at the Abbey this morning, it was back on the bus for the homeward journey.
We decided to break the journey again at Peebles even though the bus goes straight through to Edinburgh, but no scone this time, just a coffee.
It was a wise decision given the time it took to negotiate the environs of The Borders General Hospital and the maze of twists and turns that is Galashiels not to mention all the many stops along the Tweed.
To hang with expense, the next time we go to Melrose we will get the train to Tweedbank and walk the extra mile and a bit to the town.
These horses were so well behaved as our bus passed them minutes earlier in the heavy traffic entering Peebles.
The extra images are Melrose Abbey and a magnificent sculpture in Peebles celebrating the success of Scott Brash, a successful showjumper from Peebles
