The folly

I didn't really want to go to the gym this morning, as it is too nice to be indoors. However I walked home via Silverton Lane and the folly. A local philanthropist built it to give employment to locals during a time of hardship around 1720.

I like the way the lane is bordered by the dry stone walls, and that the lambs are playing.

We are tidying up in the garden, as we won't have time later in the week when visitors are arriving from Skipton. We'll be walking in the hills with them - they are triathletes, cyclists, climbers, skiers - supremely fit and 10 years younger than us - but at least we can take them on a good walk!
