Tourists and Turnstones

We had a good/bad experience at the beach today. Bad, in that it was soooo windy that castle-building was out of the question. But, good in the fact that the winds stirred up some nice medium sized waves.

The boys (myself, Merrick, and S-I-L Doug) spent hours in the surf, with Doug and me body-surfing, and Merrick trying to stay on his feet. We even guilted coaxed Grandma Lisa in for a little while. Such fun to get battered, pummeled, and worked over by the breaking water.

Later, we went out to a seafood restaurant at the end of a pier, where I took the group shot. The ruddy turnstones were watching us from the roof. They are members of the sandpiper family.
