Topless Tower
The remains of Timpendean Tower, just over the hill from us.
It was built for defence - from cattle thieves and English invaders. The latter burned it in 1545, during the 'Rough Wooing' when Henry VIII was trying to engineer a marriage between his son Edward and the infant Mary Queen of Scots.
Our walk started well, warm and sunny, but by the time we got to the tower the sky was looking dark and dramatic. So I've taken some liberties with the image to add to the atmospherics.
