Calamine

She got up and coloured for a short while this morning and we took a walk to the bank & the pharmacy- albeit with katie in her jammies. She was delighted to be out in the fresh air, though it wore her out quite quickly. Her dance bootees were very helpful given that shoes hurt her at the moment with blisters on her feet.

Music has been a saving grace again today. Despite blisters on her hands and in her mouth, she's still wanted to play. She's worked really hard on the piano learning some new things. B had set her half a new piece to learn which she mastered to the point of playing it double time for fun & then taught herself the trickier second page. She's learnt a surprise piece and has done brilliant with a couple of clarinet surprises to show B. She's away a few more days yet but sent katie some lovely messages that cheered her up. She also sent her a piece she thought Katie would enjoy, Copland's clarinet concerto. She was right, it was absolutely up Katie's street. Katie had a happy 15 minutes listening to it as she soaked in the bath then another 20 minutes listening to the royal phil play themes from Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean.

She is merrily stacking up the movies that she's managing to watch during her sick days- today she watched Room on the Broom, Hop, Save the Last Dance, the second half of Sound of Music and Home. I am looking forward to her being happy off her sofa again though. She tried this morning to go play but after five minutes called "mama, it hurts on the floor playing, im going back on the sofa". I'm also looking forward to being able to wrap her up in my arms completely again. My little girly likes massive big tight squeeze hugs but can't have them at the moment without it hurting. At one point today she came for a hug and tried all sorts of different ways and ended up giving up and giving me the hand that doesn't have blisters in the middle, as tears rolled down her little cheeks.

By bedtime she managed to take things with a bit more humour - the combination of calpol, bicarb & oats bath, calamine, a few sweeties from the freshly filled pick & mix jar and another DVD day
