Rant!

Have you ever written a Blip, gone to review it and hesitated to publish it? This is what I did this evening - my rant related to the privileged position of those of us working in the public sector, in particular in academia, and the lack of awareness of the outside world (I was generalising of course). But perhaps it wasn't the most diplomatic of rants, so I've thought better of it...

We are in a consultation period at work over our pension scheme, and today I attended an information session. I almost didn't go - I find it really hard to be concerned about what will happen to me in 30 years' time! It was a good session though, informative for a lay person without being patronising, delivered by a quite delicious actuary (I never realised before that those two words could go together...).

Anyway, back to pensions. I shall give my feedback and see what happens. But whatever the outcome, I'm lucky to work where I do and enjoy the privileges and perks of my job.
