A Day Of Many Walks
Another lovely sunny day and today was TT’s turn for a morning run. He has struggled with his running over the past year due to his back injury, but he has entered a race to force him get back into training. The boys then went for holiday haircuts and we then had our first walk of the day – round and about the lovely village of Rothbury. Munroist 4113 may be interested to hear that as I stood taking a photograph of the view up the valley (first extra) I was engaged in conversation by a man who asked me if I liked the view. Having replied that I did, he then urged me to object to a planning application that is currently under consideration.
We then headed up the valley to Elsdon, to do a walk that was outlined in a leaflet that TT had picked up. BB took charge of the instructions and directions. It was a nice walk through sheep fields, with great views, except for the sheep field that also housed a bull. We ended up back at the village and had a look around the pinfold and the church. Unfortunately the café was closed.
Our next stop was Bellingham, to find some lunch and to do another walk from the leaflet - the walk to Hareshaw Linn (with BB in charge again), which we have done before. I was sure that when we walked this last year that it would probably be quite nice on a lovely sunny spring day. I can confirm that it was a much nicer walk than last year!
Our last stop for the day was Black Middens Bastle House. It is basically a fortified farm house in the back of beyond. We did wonder what it must have been like to live there back in the day.
After all our walking and fresh air, we were all rather weary.
Hear is Black Middens Bastle House. The extras show “the view” from Rothbury, a view from our walk at Elsdon and BB and TT at Hareshaw Linn.
