Taking stock of reforms

Any plans for today were diverted as we took stock of the Reoort by the Education and Skills Committee of the Scottish Parliament which had been published early this morning. The Committee has been taking evidence over several months and I attended a session in March. Their report is in the extra but the view of the modern skyline of Edinburgh by the Quartermile is my preferred photo.

In between other meetings on our joint digital strategy and preparing for our next Board meeting, we issued a note to our community reporting on the report and indicating that we would be considering the recommendations very carefully. Several we are looking at already; others will need resources to deliver what is expected and some may well need legislation to achieve the desired aims. And some may not yet be achievable. But we will work through them as the ultimate aim is to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.

The evening was spent catching up with our son after his latest travels and then dealing with a fall by my blind elderly aunt who slipped off a chair, fortunately without doing damage to anything other than her pride. The emergency alarm people had come to her aid and all was sorted by the time we heard. Much to her relief no trip to the hospital required.
