Robin's Nest
Our visit early this morning to the Fort River refuge was our best yet, although clearly the best of the migration is still to come. American robins seemed to pop up most often--while this one was sitting tight. Unfortunately the nest is very exposed and just about eye level, not far from the boardwalk. The extra shows a song sparrow, which was putting on a good show of gathering large beakfuls of nesting material; here the strand which loops over his head is at least three times his length! (Take the time to look carefully.)
