Bright spot

Sadly our garden has not received the TLC it should have and though we are appreciative of the unstinting efforts of Rob and Jo to help us, there’s still a long way to go.
Yet despite the limited attention over the past couple of months, this fine bloom provides a bright spot in our lives.
But then, roses have always been a favourite and probably more so when they are still growing, rather than as cut flowers.  Don’t get me wrong, I am well aware of the possible romantic implications of a gift of roses, and how well they are always received, but I am invariably disappointed by the relatively short life they have when indoors in a vase.

So I have been delighted to take stock of what we have in the garden just now. Maybe we still have plenty of tidying up to do, but for the moment this is a symbol of what gives us joy at the moment.
