OTT?
Had a busy morning: meeting with the Board Chair reviewing the past year and looking forward into the current one. Various bits of important admin, appointing volunteers to local management positions and looking to our future workforce structure and some detailed job descriptions.
All against the clock as I was due to leave with my wife to head to Lancaster to drop off stuff for our daughter who has moved there then head to Bakewell for a celebration tomorrow of friends' 70th birthdays.
Despite leaving an hour behind schedule and a belated visit to my blind aunt - undertaking the normal weekend visit in 15 minutes - we headed south. Unfortunately the route we took led to a road closed sign just before Biggar: despite the signs saying that the closure was at the weekend.
We followed a diversion sign which was not repeated. So, after a major detour and use of the satnav we eventually found our way back to the M74 south. After 20 miles and several junctions we saw another diversion sign which suggested we were on the right track. Not impressed.
As a result the visit with our daughter and her fiancée Reb was compressed. On the road south we then saw a warning light suggesting that the catalytic converter was looking dodgy. So we had the choice of slowing down or potentially inflicting damage on the environment.
We arrived late at our destination in Bakewell and got access to our room. A mixture of old 17th century building, modern art, Baroque French furniture and lighting of the type I've never seen before.
Looks like being an interesting weekend
