Kelpies

A visit today to the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies - these magnificent statues are 30m high and made of stainless steel - they can be seen from the main road (A9?) as you go towards Falkirk then they disappear, just tantalising glimpses, until entering Helix Park - and there they are, looming majestically above everything else.
The Falkirk Wheel is a rotating boat lift - lifting the boats over 25m from one waterway to the aqueduct, under the Antonine Wall, and joining the Union Canal. We went on the boat - the trip was very interesting with a very informative commentary. The very heavy rain (the first we'd had!) fortunately arrived while we were in the cafe and stopped before we had to go outside to the boat - so we did NOT get wet.
