Lost Fest!
I spent the afternoon at Lost Fest in Lostwithiel with Colourful Mai. I've only ever driven through this place and had no idea how pretty and what an Antiques hub it is! Wonderful shops full of interesting stuff artfully arranged and gorgeous houses with roses and one with the largest wisteria I think I have ever seen! All over the front of the house, over the entire garden and drive covering a boat! Positively cascading over the front walls!
There was a rolling programme of people performing everywhere - from a Rugby playing looking Shanty group in the Social Club where I got half a bitter shandy, to a Ukulele group outside the church to be followed by Elizabethan dancers, a SteamPunk Morris Group called Catseye and a Samba group that had everyone swaying and tapping their feet! We went in and out of the Antique shops and round an antiques market, looked in vain for vegetarian food, I settled for a Broccoli and stilton tart from a bakery and Colourful Mai to samosas from the CoOp! We sat by the river and had tea and cake and listened to the music coming from the main stage.
Ok yes I bought a ring and a Canton enamel copper round box ( referred to as yang ci in Chinese—literally ‘foreign porcelain’—becoming known as ‘Canton enamel’ after the main centre of production in China in the 18th to 19th C don't you know! I didn't till I looked it up!)with two small ring dishes - well such colourful waterlilies who could have resisted!
A very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon with as usual great conversations and laughs with colourful Mai! The whiole event is as always here!
