Sour Howes and Sallows

Parked near the lovely church in Troutbeck  and walked initially following the Garnburn Road track before heading off over Applethwaite Common to Sour Howes a fairly nondescript Wainwright with a number of grassy knolls at the top. GPS required to determine which was the real summit . Then followed the ridge to Sallows whose summit is rather quirky consisting of a long narrow mound of shale and grass. The blip is a view from Sallows over towards Red Screes and the fells I walked last week.  There was lots of cotton grass on Sallows suggesting it could get quite wet underfoot up there. In extras is a view taken on the descent looking over the Troutbeck valley and towards Windermere.

A couple of hours was spent in the garden and then Mr B and I cycled to Cark and back.
