Fisherman's Trail to Praia do Odeceixe - Day 3
Woke up to the sounds outside of a cuckoo and birds chirping. We had the wonderful breakfast sitting on the terrace of the dining area of the Monte and then we got organised for our walk on the Fisherman's trail on little paths through the countryside to the beach. Very warm today, 30 degrees, hotter than it should be for May so we were well lathered up with sunscreen.
Arrived at the little Cafe for refreshment and then a wander down to the beach. We saw that the steps that the ment were working on from the top of the road to the beach are still not completely finished!! No worries the other entrance is lovely through the restaurant and round the corner to the beach.
The lifeguards were on full duty as the waves were pounding and there were people outwith the flags which was dangerous as there are riptides in this part and many people were ignoring this. We sat in the shade of the cliffs watching people jump the waves and enjoying the sound of the pounding surf coming into shore.
Stopped at the top of the hill again for sustenance for the walk back. By this time the temps were 30, with a breeze. We had roasted sweet potato covered in oregano and garlic with garlic bread - just what was required.
We set off on our way and further on inland Part of the walk started to smell rank and then found it was three pigs in a sty - sleeping in the mud or whatever it was ! The walk home was getting tougher as the sun was stronger so it was straight into the pool to cool down when we got back-nice.
Had a not so good meal in Odeceixe, the waiter was run off his feet and the food was taking ages to come and not that great.
Collapsed into bed again - 23k steps done today!!
