The Olive Grove
We woke up late morning to thunder and lightning, but it soon went and an hour later the sun was out. We decided on a 90 minute drive to Sivas on the southern most tip of Crete for no great reason other than our receptionist, Chronis, who knows the island intimately suggested a look in the region.
On the way there the heavens opened again but when we arrived in the region the sun was back out and good enough to go on the beach. Just outside Sivas I saw this Olive Grove. These groves literally dominate the island but I liked this one as the trees were quite spread out and lit by the golden scorched grass, against a nice blue sky and white clouds.
We continued a few miles over a rough dirt track to The Old Port at Kali Limenes. A bit industrial and the beach seemed to have seen better days.
More rain on the way back to Heraklion but by 6pm when we reached our hotel, many were enjoying relaxing around the pool where Mrs BB went for her long distance swim as it's length is about 20 metres.
Another night in watching the sun set from our balcony. At least here the rain doesn't last long and soon dries quickly.
