Lunch....
for the seven cygnets, dredged up by the Cob. The Pen was feeding herself, having brooded them all for some weeks. Each year they bring six to maturity. Lets hope this year they manage all seven.
As I watched, the Little Grebe came too close and the Cob hissed and chased it away. However, the Little Grebe had its own nest in the reeds close by!
A lovely day, not as hot but good for walking.
Saw first Red Admiral, Orange Tips and Small White butterflies.
The Slavonian Grebes were feeding on the loch and the Mallard had six ducklings in tow.
BogBean was flowering in profusion.
Chaffinches, Sedge Warblers and Reed Buntings were all calling.
