Diary of an Edinburgher

France Day One

We were picked up in a Mercedes E class limo. Nice start to the holiday. Unfortunately, this good vibe did not last for the whole journey.

First of all, our flight was delayed for half an hour. As we only had an hour in Schiphol before our flight to Bordeaux, we knew it would be tight. Which it was. Even though we were only in transit, the queues at passport control were horrendous. But we snuck up the side of the queue, waving our boarding pass, as did several people, and made it. I didn't know I could move so fast!

A slight hiccup at Bordeaux, with nobody to meet us. Actually, he was there - outside - while our instructions were to wait by the information desk. We eventually found each other.

No worries. We got here and went straight to a buffet dinner, which was excellent. I should have taken a photo of the desserts, because I had five different ones. They were tiny, though. In fact, so relieved were we to have arrived, we may have had one too many cocktails. A timely warning.

The boat is FULL of Aussies! Which is a Good Thing, as they're generally very friendly.

After dinner, I went up on deck to watch this huge ship passing under the amazing bridge, which goes up and down. That's the road away up at the top! It's a terrible photo, but the only other one I took today was of JR sitting in bed with a red wine, and she wouldn't let me use it...

We've had lots of messages from Archie, who is having a fab time!
