Behind the scenes

I spent part of the day in Stirlng discussing issues emerging from the Parliamentray Committee report on the children's hearings system with our sister organisations: SCRA. Lots of topics to discuss, lots to we have underway and lots of matters to explore.

I finished sharp as our son had obtained tickets for himself and a guest to attend a "behind the scenes of the Botanics" evening organised for Glasgow University Alumnii. I was delighted to be the +1 as we got to see some of the research greenhouses with plants from across the world, many of which were only ever to be kept in the greenhouse.

Then up to the herbarium, an archive of some 3,000,000 records of plants. The blip is of some dried peonies from China dating from 1922 onwards. A fascinating presentation on both parts of the visit and a really enjoyable occasion. The Gardenwill be 350 years old in just a few years time and its heritage was very evident.

Back home to catch up on papers ahead of a meeting with volunteer leaders tomorrow.
