School Trip

BUSY day! We got up and on with music this morning before leaving early to go vote. Katie smiled nicely at the representatives of the parties we weren't voting for and came in chatting away to me. She posted my ballot paper and was pleased to have been a small part of me having my (wasted in our constituency) democratic voice.

We cycled to school - in the absolute pouring rain - and were the first there. Bobbins arrived second and the two of them skipped & danced around, indifferent to the rain. Which was good as today is "School Trip Day". To the beach. Thankfully, it stopped raining about 10 minutes after they arrived and they were able to have a good day. The trip is the beginning of a project with an artist who will spend most of next week with them. Today, as the blip shows, they created art from things they found on the beach, as well as playing, charging, laughing and getting gloriously filthy. Katie is glowing brightly in her high vis cycling jacket in all the photos. I think she took the decision that she'd rather wear her own jacket than have one of the vests inflicted on her.

She said she nearly fell asleep on the coach, both on the way there and the way home, but she didnt. I could quite believe it-  she looked really quite bushed when I picked her up. We cycled home and she ate a ginormous pile of food which perked her before dancing. They had a good time in class, with a visiting teacher instead of their usual. When we got back she did a bit of clarinet, including working on a lovely new piece that I'm going to accompany her for in a local festival soon. She didn't last a mega long practice before she decided she was ready for her bed.

(I hung off posting her blip in the hope school would provide a nice photo from their day out. Last time I took the chance, they failed to include Katie in any of the snaps of the day. This time, there were a couple of lovely shots, so there are even two extras showing the project they created as a whole year group!)
