San Giovanni

We took a bus to Menaggio, quite unusual for us as we usually take a ferry and then a bus back. Today we did the opposite. I fancied lunch at one of the restaurants in Menaggio. It is in a fairly narrow alley off the main square.

One of the waitresses made a comment to me about the heat. I said it felt not too bad sitting in the shade at the restaurant. She said it was different if you were working, true enough. By the end of lunch even for me the alley was feeling rather warm, and by then the waitresses were wilting in the heat, they looked exhausted.

After lunch I bought another hand towel for the bathroom. The ferry returning to Lenno stopped at the San Giovanni village a little way south of Bellagio. The photograph was taken as we were coming in to the village.
