Miss Alice
It has been a long, hot and exhausting day. This weekend is a big one in the Waddesdon calendar for the annual Feast. Originally this event was set up by Baron Ferdinand for the entertainment of the village. The tradition was restarted two years ago and was a great success - thousands of people come from miles around. A long table is set up down the centre drive for picnics and there are stalls of all kinds selling their wares. There are also various entertainers which are usually very funny,
I was there all day and joined by my daughter and her friend with all their children and a couple from someone else! At one point I took Sophie and her friend Lucy into the House to show them a few details. Here they are talking to Miss Alice (Baron Ferdinand's sister) - or an actress impersonating Miss Alice.
Once home, it was more or less straight out to a concert in Berkhamsted - we were the audience on this occasion. Very enjoyable although I was struggling to stay awake at some points. Another day at Waddesdon tomorrow for the remainder of Feast Weekend, it will probably be even busier and hotter than today.
