Barra airport

We are now on Barra and the sun has come out at last.   It's not warm though.

Barra airport is unusual in that it has a terminal building and all the usual trappings of an airport with one exception - there is no runway.   Planes land and take off from the beach but only when the tide is low enough.   

The arrival and departure of a plane causes great excitement with lots of sightseers.   We were fortunate to catch two planes landing and taking off because we had managed to get on an earlier ferry than then we booked.

Barra is lovely (the sun helps) but we have explored most of it in a couple of hours.

Our campsite is really small and right on the edge of the sea and surprisingly has very fast WiFi internet.
