James and the Mammoth

Today we took the boys to a prehistoric park, set in cooler shady woods. (The temperature was up to 30). It was more suited to older children who could read French, but they enjoyed dashing about looking at the models of mammoths, wolves etc, and the sound effects were quite scary so we could make it fun for them. It was a nice walk, then they had a picnic in the camper van which was fun. However when Mr C told James off for throwing his food about he had a 10 minute meltdown, which finally came to a halt when he was carried outside by Mr C and I pipit on the emergency flashers on the van. When he's in a terrible two tantrum he can't hear a word anyone says! Thomas stayed calm through the episode and eventually we got going. We drove to the river to cool him off! They played happily in the dirt till we reckoned their parents would have got back from their visit to Bergerac.

We intended to make off tomorrow to Sarlat to explore and have a nice lunch, if anywhere is open on Mondays. But apparently there's to be thunder storms tomorrow with ping pong ball sized hail, which Mr C says can damage the van roof.
