Diary of an Edinburgher

Rufus visits!

JR went to the gym before heading off to tidy up her (friend's) AirB&B. But today she was not happy. The people had left it in a rather a mess. What inconsiderate people. However, most folk are very considerate and you'd hardly know they been there. But just the morning when she was in a hurry, they weren't.

Back home for a brief sit down, coffee and avocado toast, bath Archie, then off for last minute shopping.

Meanwhile, after I'd cut the grass, I popped down to pick up Rufus, who was staying with us for the day while his mum went out galavanting in town. He was very good - I think he's getting used to being here without his mum and not crying. We spent a bit of time out in the back garden, with Archie fetching the football every time for a treat. Rufus was not the slightest bit interested in a ball, but he did just wander in through the neighbour's open door. Archie knows not to do that.

When JR came back, I took the boys up the hill. Poor Rufus had to put up with Archie's crazed, hysterical, very loud yapping as soon as we start driving up the steep hill to the car park. We didn't walk too far - Rufus is slow, but I'm not much faster.

Rufus's mum had arrived to pick him up by the time we got home. He was very pleased to see her, and while we had a G&T, he lay down and snoozed - he hadn't done that all day, but he could relax when his mum was in sight again.

Packing is easy for this trip! Tee shirts, jeans, spare pair of comfy shoes, jumper, gilet, raincoat in a bag, midge repellant, snacks. We can do without alcohol for a week.

Our American friends arrive tomorrow One and a half sleeps. It's all go!
