Day 24 - Heave ho
The old girl has also been used to heave the heavy insulation blocks up to the first landing of the scaffolding. A task much harder than one may think.
The boards are packed on larger pallets, much larger than standard "Euro" standard pallets. The JD front loader has no "parallel" function so when the forks are horizontally level at ground level, they are almost vertical when at scaffolding height and while she can lift them OK, the steering is to all intents and purposes impossible. So have to line up the pallets using the pallet jack directly in line with the desired position, lift and move forward to the scaffolding, gently rest the front loader on the scaffolding and then undo a chain and again raise the front loader until the pallet gets back to the horizontal.
Despite all the hassle it works. Roofer does have a lift but only wants to start using it when the insulation and all the battens etc are in place.
A test - try to spot the Sussex girl doing her best to help clearing up. Hint there is also a Bavarian girl clearing up, mainly hidden by pallets of one thing or another.
