The Beggars' Fair
Today wasn't meant to be sunny and hot. But it was. Very. So I took myself off to The Beggars' Fair in Romsey.
At heart the Beggars' Fair is a free music festival with a lot of local-ish musicians of all sorts playing at pitches in the streets and gardens and outside the Abbey. There are also a lot of stalls selling street food, braiding your hair or giving you glitter tattoos and face paintings (I declined, but watched the Mayor being given a glitter tattoo). There were also Bulgarian dancers, morris men and an exhibition of wonderful handmade quilts.
The images I liked best from the day were this one of a musician playing for the morris men and, in extras, a great jazz singer just finishing her set, plus a girl taking a break at the back of one of the food wagons. They all had smiles on their faces. I, on the other hand, felt cooked and came back with a bit of a headache - all gone now thanks to a fruit smoothie chased with a large cup of coffee!
Hope you've all had a great Saturday xx
