Will and the Flower People

Today's the day .......................... to go to Tatton

Such an enjoyable day spent at the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park - and such a lot of pictures taken that it's hard to choose just one.

It was the perfect time to be there because it wasn't too busy, being a day reserved for members only.  We were there as guests of brother Ron (who is a RHS member) and Margaret - their Christmas present to us.  It wasn't too hot, although it was a warm day - and the forecasted rain didn't appear until we were on our way home.  There was so much to see - every sort of plant for every sort of garden, garden machinery, tools, garden accessories and much more besides.  If you were a lover of gardens, then this was the place to be.

Highlights of the day would have to include the Butterfly Dome where you were in the close proximity of the most beautiful creatures like the Malachite and the Blue Morpho  (see extras).  And the Gold Medal Award-winning garden of United Utilities entitled the'Slow the Flow'  Garden.  It tackled the problem that water run-off from front gardens covered with non-porous materials is increasingly the cause of flooding problems.  This stylish, contemporary garden space demonstrated techniques for capturing, retaining and slowing the flow of rainfall.

Lots of ideas to take away from the day - and try out at home ...................
