Joe...

.. Meet Joe. Isn't he cute?

He resides at Buxton station and was made by local artist Andy Hill, who was commissioned to make something from the salvaged metal from Buxton Traction Maintenance Dept when it was demolished on 21st March 2016.

Sadly, vandals have removed one of Joe's arms. (How could anyone have hurt him?).
He is awaiting repair.

In other news we went to hear/see the wonderful David Crystal speak this morning. His subject was 'Be'... And he did!
With linguistic fun he reminded us that we might ask a three year old child, 'have you been?' But if we asked the postman the same question it would have quite a different meaning! (The funny thing is that both know exactly what we mean!).

Language eh? :-)
