Horticultural Pride
It rained very hard in the night and this morning, although dry, it was very breezy. We walked to the allotment, which has been getting rather over-run with weeds and bracken as I have not done any significant work there for a few weeks. This harvest is the reward for our labours. It should keep us well fed for several days...at least!
This afternoon, continuing the horticultural theme, we visited the Summer Show of the village horticultural society. It was held in the old primary school, a beautiful Victorian building, which I thought rather appropriate, given the Victorians' love of order and kitchen gardens. In Extras you can see some of the entries. I wished I had submitted some of my fruit and veg. There were also cakes, breads, jams and chutneys, and children's competitions - one of which was to decorate a stone in Aborigine style art - see Extras.
