Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2017 Sunday -- Laguna Lake

The clock was nearing six when I captured this photo. We had left the house about ninety minutes earlier with the goal of finding some sunshine. A gray overcast sky has been here the past three to four days.

When we drive south and then follow Hwy. 1 east to San Luis Obispo, we are in sunlight before we exit the city limits of Morro Bay. That is exactly what we did this afternoon. Then we drove a country road from the back of Cuesta College toward the farming community of Los Osos and kept veering east till we entered the city of San Luis Obispo, referred to as SLO by the locals, made famous by Cal Poly University, and previous to that, Mission San Luis Obispo.

Walking the dogs was our priority. Laguna Park with its beautiful lake seemed like a good destination to get out of the car. The ocean breeze is strong in the park and usually chilly, but we were prepared with hooded sweatshirts.

Later as we were approaching Cayucos, we could see from a distance that a high blanket of fog was covering Morro Bay, but direct sunlight was illuminating our little town, which resembles the weather pattern north of us in Monterey Bay with sunny Santa Cruz and foggy Monterey.

Back at the house, we enjoyed soup for our later dinner and spent the remainder of the evening watching the northwestern sky's light show. Tomorrow, the last day of July, will be the fifth anniversary of our first walk through what is now our retirement home in Cayucos. Hopefully in the next two to three years, I'll taste retirement.

From California's Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
