Success!
JR set off to the South Africa Embassy with her big pile of papers and photocopies. On the way, she popped into the bank and get them to stamp and sign it on the day! Amazingly enough, they wanted another £40 for this, and indeed every, appointment! It's just an agency, the receptionist was Italian, and she very helpfully didn't charge. Whit a palaver!
Archie and I took a couple of buses down town to meet up with JR at a pub we'd been meaning to have a look in - the Lioness of Leith. We had very good coffees and a fish and chip lunch before heading back on the bus. Driving through town is problematic at the best of times, but it's a nightmare during the Festival. You could walk faster. Bus drivers must have to go and sit in a darkened room when they finish their shifts. On the way back, JR and Archie walked through the Meadows while I got another bus home.
An hour on the sofa to recover, then we collected Rufus and his mum and went up the hill to meet Bailey and her mum. It was threatening but the blustery wind blew the rain clouds away. It certainly blew our cobwebs away. Back to Janet's for cake and a cuppa. A grand afternoon out.
Extra: Just as we were about to leave for town, it started to rain. I put Archie's coat on, then pottered about for ages getting myself ready. When I came back, he was in exactly the same position as I left him! Look at his tail. He HATES wearing the coat. What a wee character he is.
