....Jack Frost nipping......
Didn't blip yesterday....was totally devoid of inspiration and numb....whether it was relief after the ECG result on Thursday....or because I didn't see hebs yesterday......I have no idea.
Today was totally different.....up at 6.00 for a major fishing match....out to the car....it was iced up!!!!!!!!!!!
Rear doors and tailgate frozen shut!!!!!
10 minutes with the engine running to get them deiced and the screens clear.
Picked up Shaun.....at the venue at 7.15.......full English breakfast....except for the tomatoes, the food of Satan. The match was a Greater Manchester Coaches match, teams of 6. It soon became clear that the other teams had not put in teams of coaches, but had selected the best anglers from their clubs.
Draw at 9.00.....I drew peg 36........the shallow end of the lake....and the area known for not holding many fish.
Beautiful sunny day....match started at 10.00....didn't get a bite until 11.10...didn't catch a fish until 12.15.......5 hours later I weighed in with just over 1lb! The other 5 guys in my section didn't do much better...in fact we didn't have 10lbs between the six of us. Shaun had 64lb! He was 4th. The winner had 86lbs!!!
We finished up 3rd overall....the winners had 2 coaches and 4 others, 2nd place had one coach and 5 others...we had 6 coaches....one of only two teams to stick to the rules.....so I reckon that's a moral victory.
Home to a quiet evening with the Boss and a lovely Lamb Rogan Josh....plus a couple of beers....a hot shower....and now the aches from sitting in a strange position are kicking in.
The family are all here for a roast pork dinner tomorrow......and it will be another quiet night....D is in the US and B has gone to Dublin so no boys night out!
I'm going to catch up on commenting now....and then a lie-in in the morning.
