Tiny Tuesday-colourful
Day ten of our holiday and we visited the oceanographic museum. It was absolutely fabulous and very educational!
The many different fish were perfect for today's challenge of colour and tiny Tuesday!
On arrival there was a tank full of clown fish which were beautiful! One of the next tanks we saw contained sea cucumbers- now to me it looked like a rock but my son identified it and told me that when they feel threatened they spit out their bones because they can harm predators and then they eat them back up!
We sat for a long time at the shark tank - we got there just as they were being fed so they were very active! A huge turtle was also in the tank swimming around which was fantastic!
The jellyfish were beautiful and the sea horses were lovely - apparently sea horses don't have scales but have skin and also the males are the ones that get pregnant! The female produces eggs into the male and the male fertilises them and carries them!
At 1pm the children had an educational tour which included touching some sea creatures including sea urchins which have really unusual skeletons that look like rocks! They have huge teeth too! They also got to touch a shark, and we saw a shark egg containing a live shark! Absolutely fascinating!
