Gorgeous Gannet

Today's a day of unpacking, putting on washloads, not pegging them out cos it's pouring with rain, stashing suntan lotion back in the cupboard ... and generally reacclimatising to a good old British summer!

So, here's a last holiday moment from our homeward journey through mostly sunshine, with billowing clouds developing into rain as we approached Blighty. Halfway across the English Channel we encountered a huge flock of gannets. See Extra for some idea of the quantity, but I was most chuffed with this solo portrait.

Five hours on a Brittany car ferry proved perfectly comfortable, both outward and homeward journeys. We'd definitely use them again, one bonus being a short one-hour drive home on disembarking, with an open-24-hours Tesco en route so that we could pick up essentials on the way home.
