What a Day!
TreeGuy has a new rescue squirrel baby! Her eyes aren't open yet, but she is very lively and feisty. What just knocks me out is seeing her little hands wrapped around his big thumbnail. The extra shows her being bottle fed.
I was all set to feature a music blip again before all this cuteness appeared. At about 3 oclock this afternoon, we had a choice of three performances, all within a couple blocks downtown. The first extra shows the annual Musical Saw Festival free concert in front of the Tom Scribner statue; he was a political activist and traveling saw player who frequented downtown many years ago. It may be hard to see in this light, but I like the way the live player echoes the pose of the sculpture. Another entertainment choice was our beloved homegrown accordionist, The Great Morgani. The second extra shows his latest costume, Styro Ballz. His accordion has a costume as well; Morgani makes all his own costumes, and, believe me, he has a houseful. The third musical offering was the student concert at the Cabrillo Music Festival. Each year the young people in the student program produce an afternoon of their original music--it was a wonderful showcase by some very talented kids. I sometimes forget how rich we are as a community--all of this incredible and very different music, all free, and all of a Saturday afternoon!
And to top it all off, today we harvested our very first tomatoes of the season! Nothing like a tomato still warm from the sun.
