Buchan Alpha

A fine sunny morning, and a fine afternoon, although it clouded over.  Rain was forecast for tonight, but been dry, with a gale picking up.

Another day in the museum office.  I've been busy with scanning old slides from the 1960s, John Leslie collection.  The schools went back today, so the museum was a bit quieter.  It was a lazy evening, But mam popped by and we headed out for a walk with Sammy.  Movies on telly and feet up :)

Decommissioning of oil installations has arrived in Shetland, with the arrival of the Buchan Alpha oil production vessel.  The 12,000 tonne structure has produced nearly 150 million barrels of oil over 36 years.  It's the first major decommissioned job in Scotland, and hopefully provide jobs.  A new quayside will officially open later this month at Dales Voe, in the meantime it's a grand view for locals residents here at Califf, Tingwall.
