Diary of an Edinburgher

Archie Time

Popped to the doctor again to ask for a magic pill which gets rid of aches and pains and has no side effects. He chuckled, and apologised that there isn't one. Got some new pills, so hopefully they will help, though I am very familiar with some of the negative side effects. How come there are no positive side effects?

After all that exercise yesterday, I reckoned I had a pass for today. My exercise today was hoovering and other light housework. Though I moved furniture and did in corners, which I don't usually bother with.

Anne came to take Archie out for the morning. We had a chat about the state of the world, which is not a happy one. Added to the fact that a bottle of beer had fallen out of her fridge on to her foot last week - which was very painful, not to mention incapacitating - she felt she needed something happy and warm and cuddly and positive. Archie time was needed!

The day was sunny and showery, and they managed a wander to the Links in sunshine. Though a few steps on to the grass, and whoosh! She landed on her knees first, then her bottom. She was covered in mud. She took a photo of her muddy legs from the knees down for her Facebook. So for the first time ever, Archie was not the muddiest one on a walk! But she carried on with the visit, chatting to lots of dog owners while Archie did doggie things with their dogs. She (felt she) had to explain her rather, er, unkempt appearance, and warn people of the dangers of the wet grass.

We have a friend arriving tomorrow, we haven't seen her for years. In fact, we met at a shared table at a (Brian Kellock) jazz concert years ago.

JR popped out for provisions, then we took Archie up the hill for a swift walk in between showers. We had to just wait a minute till the shower passed, and he was getting a bit restless in the boot. Patience, Archie, patience.
