Dirty Water

The Waimakariri River is higher than usual, and there’s evidence that it has been much higher in the last few days. The water is still a bit muddy, instead of the brilliant blue we see on clear days. I took this photo from the Gorge Bridge.

While I was up north I suddenly realised that the unusual shaped mountains are actually Mount Torlesse. I stopped in a rather tricky place and took a quick shot. See extra. Seen from the side the main peak looks long front to back, and it completely blocks Castle Hill Peak. Otarama, on the right, is also showing a different side, and it hides the Back Peak. Anyone interested might like to compare here.
