Why Landscape Matters

Is the title of the new Landscape Charter for Cumbria & the Lake District *- and I'm very proud to say Mrs IttH was commissioned to provide the two page centrepiece they've used to show why.

As ever watching an artwork emerge had been fascinating, but even more so this time as a pair of nearly identical yet subtlety different pictures needed to be created. As ever my poor photography doesn't do them justice, the amount of detail, and vitally, accurate detail, in these pictures is incredible, painted at large scale but specifically to be reduced, at times its seemed almost architectural in its creation. To condense not just the Lake District but Cumbria as well to a representation that's still recognisable, and conveys its meaning seemed a huge brief, but I think she's done it brilliantly.
