Penaguila Castle

It's our first proper day without visitors, and being my birthday I got to choose what to do. I opened the Sunflower Book of Walks & Car tours of Costa Blanca and the page fell open at Penaguila Castle (walk 22).

After a 90 minute drive through stunning mountain scenery we arrived at Penaguila village for the couple of mile hike to the top to see the ruins of 8th century castle of The Moorish leader Al Azraq. The views were stupendous - the extra showing Penaguila village below.

The blipfoto is a stitched panorama of the castle - you may be able to see Mrs BB. There's not much remaining of the castle but the cross marks the spot.

We're just off out for a cooling drink at the local bar. The sun is just setting on another sunny day.
