An ever-present feature of the canal system are the many and varied bridges to be found. 

They are often constructions of great beauty – of every sort of material.  Sometimes they are carrying roads, railways, footpaths over the canal.  Sometimes they are carrying the canal itself over ravines, rivers, roads and the like.

This is Bridge No 49 – a graceful brick arch – carrying a herd of dairy cows from the field to be milked in the cow sheds at the farm .......................
