Quartermile

When the new Edinburgh Royal Infirmary was built out at Little France, freeing up the lovely stone building my children were born in, I wasn't optimistic when the developers moved in. I was expecting some ugly modern monstrosity to emerge from the beautiful symmetry of the old hospital. And some of the building are pretty uninspiring - and yet I think it works; I like the new hybrid skyline of old and new that provides a backdrop to part of my walk to and from work.

I still think the new hospital is pretty dull though.
