What did the Americans make of it?
Tonight was the Social Evening for our festival. We wanted to celebrate even more than usual, because this is our 30th festival.
We had a wonderful buffet in Haltwhistle Comrades Club. Then we had local talent to entertain us, mainly from our volunteers. In addition, the Breakaways, a small local choir, came to sing. They started in the Hadrian Singers, Haltwhistle's community choir. The Hadrian Singers were formed after we had a successful Singing Walk in the Festival.
Anyway, they did well. They ended their set with two Geordie songs and Maureen (striped top) could not resist going on stage and joining in. Here she is singing "Keep your feet still, Geordie, hinny". This was followed by "Blaydon Races", sung with much gusto.
Today I should have lead The Creepy Crawl, but the weather forecast was so bad that I had to cancel it. It's the first walk we have ever cancelled in a festival and not the sort of record we want to have. It was a good safety decision. The other 2 walks went ahead successfully.
It's still raining........
Chorus:
Keep your feet still Geordie hinny let's be happy through the neet*
For we may not be sae happy through the day
Oh give us that bit comfort, keep your feet still Geordie lad,
And divn't drive me bonny dreams away
