Positano

Today we visited Positano on the Amalfi coast. Despite being out of season the bus from Sorrento down the coast was absolutely rammed. There were twice as many people again as seats and we had to stand the whole 45 min journey trying not to fall over on the constant hair pin bends. Poor Eva couldn't see out of the window and started feeling sick. Anyway apart from the stunning scenery it was a pretty hellish journey but we survived. We vowed to get the boat back instead!

Spent the day on the beach in lovely sunshine. It's a stunning bit of coastline and the town is really pretty. The sunbeds on the beach were 20 euros each to hire so we sat on the beach about 10m in front of them. Some guy tried to tell us we had to pay to sit on the beach but we just ignored him and he didn't come back!

The last boat back up the coast was too early so we decided to risk the bus again. We were near the front of the queue but it turned into a scrum when the bus arrived and it was the same situation with standing room only. However a lovely lady gave her seat up for Eva and then the chap sat next to her got off after two stops so we managed to sit with the kids on our knees for the rest of the journey. Phew! We've always hired cars on family holidays before. Public transport is fine for just the two of us or if its not so busy but was really hard work today. We had a similar situation yesterday on a cramped train having to stand all the way. Not much fun with two tired little people at the end of the day! I thought this part of Italy was going to be more villagey and less busy! It is very very beautiful though.
