Glamping

After a slow start we headed to Arnathwaite for a couple of nights glamping in a wooden wigloo with a hot tub. We stopped at Gretna outlet enroute to get walking boots - a cheap outdoorsy break becomes a lot more expensive when you realise everyone has grown out of their walking books and waterproofs.
The wigloo was fab - A n I had a proper bed while the boys were on a futon, and there was a wee stove to keep it cosy. The wood fired hot tub was an interesting DIY construction. The farmer had put a coil of copper pipe in an oil drum and connected it to the large metal bath. It wasn’t the most efficient water heater, but it did the job and gave us with engineer tendencies plenty to discuss - how could we improve it?
We had pasta at the wigloo and then walked 2 miles to the pub so A n I could have done proper beer - a nice pint of Cumberland Ale went down very well. The boys enjoyed their pudding and the walk in the dark - esp as they were able to use the bat monitor.
Here they are settling for the night, despite appearances they actually settled v quick after their 4 mile evening walk.
