My 5 favourite westerns in order of preference

1. Lonesome Dove. I love the book and the mini series equally and even thinking about Gus now could make me well up.

2. Deadwood. Lovejoy as Swearengen has to be one of the finest performances on the telly. God that guy can swear.

3. The Searchers. I've written about it before and nothing has changed.

4. My Darling Clementine. Henry Fonda, sitting on a porch, feet up, tipped back, hat over his eyes and gently kicking back and forth is one of my favourite images in cinema.

5. She Wore A Yellow Ribbon. 'Well, Mary...' Enough said.
