The Golden Gate Bridge
No trip to San Francisco would be complete without a view of its iconic bridge.
We left our friends this morning and made our way through the city, including travelling along some of the roller coaster type streets, to an area where we could give Kymba a good long walk. You can only exercise your dogs here in designated areas or specialised dog parks, so it was good to find a nature trail along cliff tops from where we could also get good views of the Golden Gate Bridge slowly emerging from the morning's mist. I took a few shots but was concerned that they might not be terribly clear or even in focus due to the greyness. However it was an invigorating walk and once again the pervading smell was from the numerous thyme bushes which we had also noticed on the cliff tops around Carmel, where we had stayed a few days ago. Following the walk we found our way to a large Safeway, as from now until we return to Vegas we will be in self catering accommodation. Duly stocked up we drove up and out of the city to find this wonderful, clear view of the bridge, living up to its name as it caught the sunlight, with the blue sky appearing above the layer of sea mist. The water was dotted with small, white sailed yachts and the cars crossing the bridge glinted in the sunlight. While the skyscrapers marking the business section of the city still appeared like ghostly silhouettes the island of Alcatraz, on the far left of the shot, seemed to be basking in sunshine.
We have now arrived at a place called Dillon, our home for the next 3 days, and it looks to be a fantastic place for some relaxation and good beach walks. At the moment the bed is beckoning after our journey but I will endeavour to respond soon to all your kind comments on my big blip birthday. In the meantime, thank you so much as it was great to hear from you all!
